Joe Buys Some Bread

Here's a story I wrote today. It shows how the Major Arcana of the Tarot operates. This is part of a project I'm working on, where I will further advance my own skills at reading Tarot, and at the same time, explain the Tarot in a simple, easy to understand way. The story is called Joe Buys Some Bread, and in the story, the main character, Joe, starts off as The Fool, and proceeds to experience each card in the Major Arcana until he comes full circle and becomes The Fool again.

Joe Buys Some Bread

Joe is blissfully unaware that he is out of bread. He eventually walks by his empty cabinet, and thinks to himself "I got this, I will do what it takes to get more bread." He then tells his room mate that they are out of bread, and asks if he will go get the bread. The room mate says no, but agrees to throw in some money, and after realizing that he is also hungry, also agrees to accompany Joe to the bread store. The two then get in Joe's car, and drive away from their home.
Once they get to the store they realize it is closed. They retreat back to Joe's car to make plans. Joe remembers that there is a 24/7 store a few blocks away, and they agree to go there instead.
Before they leave, Joe admits his mistake in thinking the first store would be open is caused by the fact that he is stoned. He then allows the room mate to take over driving, and decides it might be a good idea to not drive anywhere when he is stoned.
They get to the other store and buy the bread. Joe proclaims himself King of Bread Buying. They both laugh.
On the way out of the store, a security guard stops Joe and starts questioning him. Unknown to Joe, this guard also happens to be his room mate's cousin. When the guard sees that Joe is with his cousin, he agrees to let them both go without further questioning.
They both get home, make sandwiches, eat, and pass out. When Joe wakes up the next day, he reflects on how little he knew about his room mate before the journey, and how lucky he is to have such a cool room mate.

A few days later Joe notices they are out of bread again.

7 confessions:

  1. That's actually a great story man, I'm sure you already know you have a knack for great writing though.

  2. I liked it, and wish you good luck with the Tarot. It's been too long since I last read it myself.

  5. I didn't get that at all. Reading Debra She WHo Seeks's comment makes me think tarot card references are in there but I see none. then again I only know the death card.
